In mid-August, right before the new fall semester started, Penn State Altoona proudly held the official ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony for the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence in their Downtown Altoona Campus.

The Sheetz Center is a state-of-the-art 14,550 sq/ft facility that is an adaptive re-use of a former downtown retail building. The three floors will be home to classroom experiences and seminars to public forums and workshops all centered around the Entrepreneurial Studies program through Penn State Altoona.

This center is the vision of Steve and Nancy Sheetz who provided the funding to create this essential institutional and community resource with a $3 million gift – the largest in Penn State Altoona’s history.  The Sheetz Center will be a continuous source of educational and professional experiences that create optimism and opportunity for our enterprising students and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout our region.

In theory and in practice, the Sheetz Center will prepare students to achieve their entrepreneurial aspirations. Traditional classroom instruction will be enhanced with real world experiences as students develop their business ideas and concepts, counsel small business owners and interact with local business leaders.
