[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Saturday….In the Park….I think it was the Fourth of July…(I bet you have that song now stuck in your head and are googling the rest of the lyrics from this classic Chicago hit right now.)  Well it was a Tuesday not a Saturday, but the sun was shining and everyone at the Ribbon Cutting event for the newly redesigned Lakemont Park certainly enjoyed themselves like it was the Fourth of July!

“We are overwhelmed by the transformation that has occurred here at Lakemont Park into a free access community park with a wealth of activities and affordable attractions is simply amazing,” said Steve McKnight, ABCD Corp. President & CEO. “Places like this, these Third Places where people decide to gather outside of their home and work, are critical for a sense of community and enhance the quality of our place here in the First Frontier Blair County for talent attraction, retention and everyone’s enjoyment.”

The park has undergone extensive renovations to move away from a typical amusement park and become a recreation and attraction venue. “Our vision is for this landmark to be the community’s centerpiece for connecting family and friends in an outdoor environment,” said Andrea Cohen, VP of Community Relations.

To support the vision of the park as a community centerpiece, entry is free to all, allowing the public to use of the green area, playground, PA WalkWorks Path, United Way & Begin With Us Born Learning Trail, cornhole, basketball and volleyball courts and more at no cost.

The following attractions require tickets or passes that are available for purchase:

– Two mini-golf courses with the redesigned Rabbit Hole 18-hole mini-golf course and the new Keystone Falls course using a golf turf for practice too.
– Guests will be able to revisit some old favorites, including the Skyliner Roller Coaster, Tin Lizzy Antique Autos, C.P. Huntington Train, 4×4 Mini Monster Trucks, and the Lil’ Leaper Kiddie Coaster.
– There will also be a selection of newly improved attractions, including new go-karts, LakeMonster paddle boats, and the Treehouse Activity Pool and Splash Pool.
– Four batting cages
– Leap the Dips and the Skyliner will open later this summer

The park will have many food and drink options, including Jack’s Grubb Shack featuring finger foods, sandwiches, pizza, wings, and ribs, Dippy’s Sweet & Salty that offers ice cream, french fries, funnel cakes and snacks, Treehouse TakeOut that has on-the-go food and drinks and Motorway Cool off that offers soda, slushies, giant cookies and popcorn and C2 Trolleyhouse selling beer, wine and spirits. Sometimes I’m thinking about that they should have wine tasting every year.
