Your Chamber is Working, Advocating, and Educating for You

The Chamber has multiple committees, programs, and events to offer to members and non-members alike. We highly encourage everyone to get involved with the Blair County Chamber in some way and explore the options we have.

Committees Meet for All Types of Businesses and Interests!

BASICS (Businesses and Schools Investing in Cooperative Solutions):  a nationally recognized committee that brings the business and education community closer together on issues that affect our younger generation.

BASICS Subcommittee on Early Childhood Education: This committee was formed as part of an effort to connect early education providers with families in need of their services.  

Presidents’ Forum: The Chamber’s formalized networking program for upper-management executives who meet specific business qualifications.

Safety: provides targeted programs marketed to safety directors from throughout the membership and community.  

WE-LEaD (Women Encouraging Leadership Education and Development): An educational program that hosts unique networking opportunities that focus on the further development of women in business.

Young Professionals of Blair County: An innovative program of the Chamber that provides educational and networking activities focusing on professional and personal development.

Experiences & Lodging Roundtable: A roundtable discussion group of businesses representing area attractions and Blair County Lodging properties.

Chamber Ambassadors: A group dedicated to welcoming new members to the Chamber and assisting those members in becoming acclimated to all aspects of the organization.

Committee of Non-Profit Businesses: This committee address the challenges and opportunities of nonprofit organizations, as well as advocates on behalf of those nonprofits to educate the community.

Executive Roundtable:  A committee designed to develop programming for members at the CEO level in business.

Farm-City: Oversees activities that focus on educating and informing residents of Blair County on the improvement of agriculture.

Golf Classic: Plans and executes the annual Chamber Golf Classic.

Healthy Workplace: Comprised of representatives of business and health providers, this committee’s mission is to help local companies set up their own wellness programs.

Home Garden & Healthy Living Showcase:  Plans and executes the three-day Home Garden & Healthy Living Showcase.

Leadership Blair County Adult: Assists in the planning of session topics and monitors the progress of the Leadership Bliar County program.

Leadership Blair County Alumni: Provides an opportunity for graduates of the Leadership Bliar County program to continue their professional development and servant leadership efforts.

Leadership Blair County Youth: Assists in the planning of session topics and monitors the progress of the Leadership Bliar County Youth program.  

Public Policy: Advocates and assists the organization in learning and dealing with issues related to business growth and interaction.

Sustainable Blair County: Comprised of businesses and individuals interested in discussing initiatives that are environmentally relevant.

Transportation: Monitors how issues related to transportation impacts Blair County’s business community.

Educational Programs Available for Adults and Youth

Leadership Blair County: A program that prepares members of the community to embrace servant leadership in monthly sessions from September through June. Find the application HERE.

Leadership Blair County Youth: A program specifically designed for the development of servant leadership in high school sophomores in Blair County during monthly sessions from September to May. Find the application HERE.

Young Entrepreneurs Academy: A national program that is administered locally by the Blair County Chamber, this 25-week program assists students in grades 6-12 to build their own businesses.

Networking and Business-Related Events

Annual Meeting: A breakfast event that allows the Chamber to share its accomplishments from the previous year and announce goals for the year ahead.

Business Hall of Fame: A luncheon that honors local businesses and inducts them into the Hall of Fame. Other awards of distinction include Young Emerging Business, Excellence in Small Business, and Safety.

The Home Garden & Healthy Living Showcase is a three-day show that features exhibitors offering face-to-face interaction between buyer and seller. The showcase is a collaborative effort between the Blair County Chamber and the Blair Bedford Builders Association. 

Breakfast Club: A monthly networking event where new Chamber members are welcomed and  a guest speaker is featured.

HD500 (Hump Day @ 5:00): An evening networking event that offers members the opportunity to host an informal get-together where guests can make a “pit stop” on their way home. It is a great way to refuel to finish out the week!

Business Before Hours: A morning networking and educational opportunity, members can have a light breakfast while learning more about the host company.

Business Excellence Dinner: An evening event that honors an individual who during at least 25 years has been regarded as a business leader in our region. They are presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this semi-formal event.

Chamber Golf Classic: A day of networking for serious and not so serious golfers.

Farm-City Dinner: An annual event where we pay tribute to the vital role agriculture plays in Blair County’s Economy.

Down on the Farm: An annual event at an agriculture business featuring a farm fresh dinner, special guests from the industry and activities for families.
