Altoona Ranked #3 by Site Selection Magazine

The Altoona Metropolitan Statistical Area was ranked third in the country for MSA’s with populations between 50,000 and 200,000 in the 2011 Site Selection Governor’s Cup Report. For the past three years our MSA has ranked in the top three every year.

The 57-year-old Atlanta-based magazine has awarded the designations annually since 1978 based on data tracked by Conway Data Inc.’s New Plant Database. “To be consistently ranked in the top 3 is indeed a testament to the investment commitments being undertaken here in Blair County” said Steve Foreman, Chairman of ABCD Corp.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania was ranked third in the same publication under the state portion of the Competition. This marks a move up in one position as Pennsylvania has earned fourth place in the Governor’s Cup for the three previous years.

The publication’s New Plant Database focuses on new corporate location projects with significant impact. It does not track retail and government projects, or schools and hospitals.
